This 42x17.5” coffee table was hand crafted from locally salvaged Pennsylvania Cherry slabs. A round over was applied to the top edges while a 22 degree chamfer was also added to the profile to provide a little more interest to this table. Small natural cracks were stabilized and highlighted with walnut tenons, seamlessly inlaid.
The wood was finished with a plant-based, hardwax oil wood finish. The finish works by forming a molecular bond with the topmost fibers of the wood. This results in a durable finish with great wear-, water- and heat resistance, all while keeping the natural look and feel of the wood.
The top was then mounted on a pair of wishbone steel legs that are attached with threaded inserts and machine bolts. This will allow assembly and disassembly an infinite number of times with just an allen wrench.
